Went a while ago. That day only pizza was served. Our waiter was the loveliest guy ever, so accommodating of a big group. Messed up a little bit of our order but then offered free dessert. Top notch customer service. Interesting interior, must visit for the beatles fan. Good starters, pizza and gelato
Absolutely lovely pasta. So tasty. We started with the buffala salad to share and was the right choice as an appetiser.
As main we had to go for Pasta, and the truffle raviolis… incredible, the truffle was fresh and you could taste it.
The seafood pasta had a great basil and garlic sauce.
And the desserts… one of the best tiramisus I’ve had.
Besos is a lovely Italian restaurant in Covent Garden on Shaftsbury Avenue in the heart of the theatre district. While the food focuses on Italian cuisine, it also has Spanish and Mediterranean influences.
There is some seating outside for al fresco dining and the interiors are modern and laid back. From the start, the service was fantastic – Zara was amazing with her recommendations and friendly nature.
We were very excited to see the offer for 2 x Aperol Spritz for £10 all day. They were a perfect aperitif sitting outside.
We also had a bottle of Gavi Di Gavi Bosco Piemonte (£32) which is crisp and dry and absolutely recommended.
There were a great selection of starters on the menu. We opted for a Bruschetta mix (£7) with tomato, tapenade olives and torpedino & artichoke cream The portions and toppings were generous and really tasty.
The Organic Burrata (£8) was served with pickled baby onion, 5 colours tomato, thai basil & balsamic reduction and was creamy and filling.
Our favourite was the Fassona beef tataki (£9.5) with red chard, sicilia chimmichurri, crunchy bread & shaved parmesan. The presentation was amazing and the beef was great quality with seared edges.
The main menu is split between pasta dishes (which can be ordered as a starter) and main courses. The Heart Shape Ravioli (£14) was SO good. It was filled with buffalo mozzarella and tomato served with basil & rocket pesto. The dish was so flavoursome and we consider this a must order!
We also had the Porcini mushroom (£17) served with potatoes dauphinoise, roasted parsnips, topinambur cream & mushroom demi-glace. The pastry had great textures and the demi-glace was delicious.
Lastly, we tried the Secret iberico pork from extremadura (£19) with purple potato puree & liquorice demi-glace. We were served two pork breasts – one was really tender but the other was a little dry. However, the demi-glace was a great addition.
The Alba Hazlenut Affogato (£7) was a fantastic end to the meal without being too heavy. The espresso was poured on top of the delicious hazlenut ice cream. The Chocolate Sicilian Cannolo (£6) (3 in a serving) were tasty but I prefer ricotta to chocolate.
Besos is such a great neighbourhood Italian restaurant in Covent Garden. We were impressed with the food and the service was fantastic. Make sure to look out for the set menus. From Monday to Friday between 12-3 you can get 2 courses for £15.90 and 3 courses for £19.90. Lastly, they also offer 4/5 course menus with additional wine pairings.
Downstairs Besos also offer private dining in a Beatles themed room as they used to eat at the restaurant and write songs in 1963!
