Pub quiz was in action, somewhat desperately when I arrived so avoided it. Staff were friendly and helpful albeit with a wild manic edge to their demeanor so I was polite and circumspect then moved to the pre-booked back room to meet the people I intended. Not a bad venue that central in Edinburgh and the prices were relatively inoffensive.

The atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing. Management and staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is pretty good - especially the fat chips which are wonderful! It’s good value for money. Tea/ coffees are also available and the beers are interesting and varied.

Came in for late lunch and ordered the doner wrap as the haggis burger was too popular and sold out. Had a few different beers and the malt of the week, which was fantastic. The staff (and other patrons!) were very friendly and provided some great comedy.

On a family trip to Edinburgh for a couple of days, we decided to go to Kilderkin for lunch because it is very close to Holyrood Castle and we had a visit very close to lunch time. The place was too crowded and they kindly told us that we could come in and if we were lucky, we could sit down. We found a place near the bathroom and sat down to be served; Immediately afterwards, my mother decided to go to the bathroom and the truth seemed to us quite normal, however, she was a little late. Meanwhile, my father, my brother and I kept waiting. It took very little time for a girl to come out of the bathroom, my father, making a movement of his arms to stretch, hit the girl lightly without realizing it, not knowing what was coming. Immediately after, my mother comes out of the bathroom and it didn't take a second for the owner of the place to make strange signs to us while holding a kind of wooden stick, we laughed out of pure courtesy and, being foreigners and despite knowing English, we didn't decipher what he was saying at first; The man immediately turns to my mother and reproaches her for why she broke the bathroom door. We, without having found out anything about what happened in the women's bathroom, were completely stunned by the situation and went from laughing to really not knowing what was happening. My mother without having told us something that had happened and in terrible English she said: "I sorry I pay I pay". The very kind man, however, if angry, walked away from the scene until he told us "guys, If I where you i'll leave". This was our story in this place that we did not last even 10 minutes, however, my mother's anecdote is phenomenal. My mother tells us that when she is in too much urgency to go to the bathroom, the first thing she does to enter the premises is to go directly to the bathroom; She in the bathroom, she knocks on the bathroom door and no one answers, however the door was locked. Immediately afterwards, my mother never crossed her mind the logical exercise that despite the fact that no one answered but the door was locked, it was highly likely that there was someone in the bathroom. My mother struggles "a little" (according to her) the door and manages to break the door frame; Now the door no longer fulfilled its privacy function. I imagine the image of the girl who was in the bathroom and how a Spanish-speaking woman tries to force the door and manages to break it (I don't know how to tell the truth). The point is that that girl my mother opened up to was the one my father subsequently beat up. This is the story of how we lasted 10 minutes in this place. With nothing to reproach my mother has exceeded. I apologize.

Pretty good spot right next to Arthur's seat, so come here once you finish that. There are pretty good menu options and the atmosphere isn't too bad either. Clean restrooms and friendly staff. Wide variety of food and drinks available.

The BEST dining experience I've had in Scotland so far. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and the food blew me away. I wish I could give even more stars.

We were walking across royal mile and were looking for place to sit down and have lunch. So, we somehow choose this bar. I coul say nothing special, sausages were mediocre, the feeling was that I got the same sausages earlier that day on Hotel breakfast buffet. Atmosphere is nice and you get feeling of pub. I would say it's good place to enjoy beer, but food didn't impress much.
