Well this was a rare find… last year when we first went to York.
So upon our return trip this year during the Easter Monday week we decided to try here again for our evening meals.
Absolutely fantastic place!
Now it can be busy on a Wednesday after 5pm (due to the free bottle of wine with purchase of two steak meals) but was well worth it for the meals alone.
When ordering they ask you for any allergies. There is a QR Code you can scan and search their website and whatever your allergy, once selected it removes all meals from the menu that have that allergy. Most efficient. But the added benefit is the staff have no issues with asking the chef if you wish.
Three nights running we came here and was never let down with the quality and quantity. Actually on the Wednesday we got there at 4:45pm and upon giving our order the guy told me to wait until 5pm for the wine bottle offer. He could easily have taken our order and not bothered but the service was excellent.
Highly recommend the steak, gammon and lasagne.
Overall one of the best places to eat in York that is very reasonable on price without scrimping on quality and quantity.

My recent experience at The Hole in the Wall restaurant in York left me with mixed feelings. The food, while acceptable, didn't quite live up to my expectations. The overall atmosphere was pleasant, making it suitable for a casual outing. If you're in York and prioritize service and cleanliness over culinary innovation, this restaurant could be a suitable choice. In the end, my visit was a mixed bag, but the attentive service and cleanliness added a positive touch to the overall experience.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Got there when it first opened and it was quiet. Started getting busy within 30 minutes.
