Fairly typical old style pub, wooden floors, wood burning fire and no super loud sound system. Place is dog friendly so non-doggy people should be aware of this. That said it's never like a dog pound. I've been several times and only ever seen 2 dogs. So, dogs aside, food tends to be homely and of good quality. Not a massively extensive menu but in my experience quite often the size of a menu can affect the quality of food for obvious reasons. With a fairly modest menu size the ingredients can be fresh and the chef accustomed to preparing the dishes. So never had a bad meal here. Staff are friendly and professional and prices are about average for the sector ten quid a dish or so.
I went for the the lamb shank roast and was very tasty but not enough vegetables and gravy, other than that was good!
Service was great, very kind staff and a lovely authentic pub. Annoying car park check in thing, I’ve had friends stung by these before at another pub and there was nothing the owners could do as it’s sold off to a third party so make sure you’re putting your registration number into the iPad at the bar, that bar staff do make you aware of this also.
Hot chocolate is a go to!
