We have been to this restaurant many times and the food has always been really great. It's french but uses British local wonderful fresh ingredients. The market menu and the 2 courses for £10 lunch menu are an unmissable bargain. Even at these prices all the courses are beautifully presented and prepared with great care. The a la carte menu is a step above, not cheap but worth the money. We also tried the Menu Gourmand which consists of the 5 signature dishes of the chef, plus a couple of extra small dishes. It was a fantastic if somewhat over the top experience, because the portions were big and I struggle to finish the dessert after all that food! Great choice for a really special occasion.
The service has always been really attentive and good, the atmosphere relaxed but elegant and very pleasant. Only once we had to wait a while for the food but that was a long time ago and the service has been running very smoothly for a long while now, so whatever problem there was I believe it's now fixed. Highlights for me are the scallops, the fillet steak, and the green apple souffle. The bread deserves special mention. It's baked on the premises and it's always otustanding.
Cosy bistro staffed by friendly and knowledgeable waiters, led by a passionate Chef who's love for cuisine shines through. I've eaten here a few times now and I've enjoyed every single visit. The menu changes frequently so it's always worth as many return visits as you can squeeze in. Highly recommended.
I had a lovely evening with friends. We ate quality home made food. Locally and ethically sourced ingredients which was beautifully presented. The staff were polite amd efficient. Every table was booked but we still had fantastic service.. I will definitely go back.
