I like Anglers mainly because of its location ( by the river) and its spacious place. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors. Appreciate the bicycle racks in the garden.
Four of us went there recently for Sunday roast. It was pretty tasty. Roast beef was soft and medium done, to our liking. Vegetables and roast potatoes were done nicely.
I was impressed with the desserts. Normally, I don't get to any dessert following a large meal, but on Sunday, we decided to go for it.
The only comment I will make is about the service. The table wasn't cleared up as we emptied the plates. We piled up the empty plates, and they stayed like that till the end. It's not a pretty sight if you are enjoying a nice meal. Tidy and clean table is the first thing I look for in a restaurant or pub. That makes a huge difference in customer experience.
It's a beautiful pub with lovely views and lots of tables outside. The service was pleasant enough but nothing outstanding. I had booked for a birthday and reminded about the birthday and I was hoping for something a bit special. Instead I was told 'you can have a dessert for free', which is lovely, of course, but no candle or song or anything out of the ordinary. It just felt a bit flat. The food was delicious but very expensive. The cote de boeuf is way more expensive than from the restaurant Cote, which is slightly outrageous for a pub. I had the sea bass which was lovely and my partner had the burger which was nice but small. We will go back but mainly for the views
This pub has amazing views, and although I only have a drink, I could see they have an amazing offer of meals on the menu.
I was a bit disappointed to see a sad looking Icecream and spend quite a sum in some expensive French Rose, and have it served not cold enough and in a plastic cup but views were worth!
Toilets were disappointing as well and I understand it was busy but more reason to have it checked more regularly?
