Fantastic. No wonder Portobello's has the reputation of tamworths best restaurant, everything from the garlic mushrooms dripping in garlic butter to my mouth watering fillit steak in a prawn, mushroom and onion cream sauce that just blow me away, not forgetting the Mars bar cheese cake to finish the night off. Everything is always perfect which includes the friendly service and the price. Would recommend to everyone
It was doing so well... The Sunday special menu, £5 for any main or pasta or pizza, it couldn't go wrong really. The service was swift, and the wait for the food didn't take too long. I'd eaten at Portobello before and wasn't overly impressed so was not sure what to expect. This time though the food was delicious, even my hard to please wife enjoyed it. But then something strange happened. A rather large party of some 30 people entered and proceeded to crowd around our table and order drinks. Rather than the staff seating them, they stood around making us feel claustrophobic and almost in the way. I don't like being watched while I'm eating particularly, but what made matter worse was being ignored by the staff. We were left waiting for half an hour, before my wife complained to a poor waitress who brought us our bill and some jelly beans, not the dessert menu so I can't comment on the desserts as I was not given the chance to try them. I would probably eat here again on a Sunday due to the value, but any normal night I would not. Its not refined enough to be worth paying around £50 full price.
Foddie. Not been here for a while food was very nice new head chef so i understand. Waitress was very pleasant too.
Puddings were to die for
