We've been going to the Beach Bistro in Southwold for a few years and have always enjoyed the food.
Location
The fish n' chip shop is ideally and centrally located at the entrance to the pier. You can get access from either outside or from inside the arcades. Loads of seating are available outside, ideal when the weather cooperates but not so good when in the rain. Occasionally, we'll hire a beach hut, bring it back, and eat inside our hut - it's such a great way to enjoy fish and chips at the seaside!
Price
We've always found the price to be quite reasonable. We've previously ordered some bespoke items (such as calamari), which is perhaps more on the punchy side, but otherwise, it's pretty much what you'd expect to pay at the coast.
Food
The food is superb! An easy 5-star from all of us. The fish is super tasty, cooked well, and has a nice crispy batter. The fish portion size is reasonable (not too large or too small) and consistent. The chips are also great. Maybe the fish-to-chip ratio is slightly off (a few more chips would be appreciated), but honestly, that's just a minor criticism. Otherwise, all good

If you're in Southwold, you've got a few potential spots for traditional seaside food, but I don't think you can go much wrong at the Beach Bistro. Thanks, we'll be back soon.

We had the best fish and chips here, very friendly, welcoming bunch and accommodated to our gluten free needs too! Thank you so much! :)

We arrived after closing today but they were so friendly & managed to rustle us up sausages & chips … thank you 😊

Haddock & chips. Chips soggy. Location great

Not bad haddock and chips. Certainly not the best in Southwold but this spot by the pier is nice and misses the crowds in town. Portions well sized too.

Friendly staff and big portions. Chips were great. Fish was a tiny bit chewy but the batter was really nice

Really nice cod and chips. I had the large and couldn't finish it. Good value for money, friendly staff.

Well situated beach cafe, at the start of the pier and right next to the beach. Plenty of seating inside and outside along the prom. Clean, tidy and well presented both inside and out. Outside there are well stocked condiments trolleys, where there is also cutlery and menus to browse. Plenty to choose from on the menu, not just fish and chips! Children's menu as well. Food was being freshly cooked so there was a wait but not long, food brought out to our table. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

This is the best fish and chips I've had. Just add mushy peas, curry sauce and salt & vinegar and you're set. Quite an extensive menu for such a small kitchen, and great for all the family. Can get very busy and crowded inside at lunchtimes, but the wait is worth it. When the sun is out, you can enjoy the outdoor seating.
