I am always a fan of a pizza place who can get my dairy-intolerado amigo's order right. Pizza without cheese shouldn't be so hard to do, right? Wrong!
Anyway, this was our most successful non-cheesy take away yet, and it was the nicest cheeseless pizza I think I have ever tasted. And to be fair, I was tempted into trying a slice or two after I'd vowed not to just from the look of the things. The base was a little crispy - just how I like it, and a 3 pizza deal cost just Ā£12. I highly recommend the spicy chilli chicken pizza with jalapeƱos if you're a fiery one like myself. Good stuff!
Well, talk about clever. This little pizza takeout could not be in a more perfect location - Chapel Street is such a main route for commuting to and from the city centre on foot and you pretty much HAVE to walk past here. If the comforting smells of garlic and tomato aren't enough to lure you in, you clearly had too much for lunch.
Sophie's absolutely right, this place looks way cleaner and fresher than a lot of the pizza and late night takeouts we come across in the city. And the fact that there's something fancier on the menu than mere pepperoni, ham and pineapple or margharita tells you everything you need to know - heck, you can even get fiorentinas here, the one with egg, and romanas with red onion, pepperoni and mushroom. There are three sizes to choose from; ten, twelve or sixteen inch, and if you order a sixteen inch pizza with three or more toppings, they'll throw in a free cheesy garlic pizza bread for you. Can't say fairer than that.
The chips are super duper and the list of extra toppings smacks of quality. You can get spinach, goat's cheese, feta cheese and black olives for instance... very snazzy. You can easily get enough food for three for Ā£20 or less. I know this. I had my drinking buddies with me. Perfect to stop-off on the way home and even worth travelling to.
Delicious pizzas! And good chips too! Choose from 10", 12" or 16" (if you get a 16" with 3 or more toppings you get a free cheesy garlic bread too), from your normal ham and pineapple to a more fancy fiorentina. I always think that the list of extra toppings says a lot about a pizza place, and this one includes feta cheese, goat's cheese, black olives and spinach, so it gets 5 stars in my book.
We had a romana pizza (red onion, pepperoni and mushroom) - really tasty, heaps of cheese and a lovely tangy tomato sauce, a fiorentina (the one with the egg on), two portions of chips and a garlic bread for under Ā£20 (it was between three of us, we're not that porky, honest). Bargain.
