I've been to Manchester for just one day on holidays and I've found this shopping center close to my hotel when I was walking around this area. It had snowed minutes before that so I was in a really good mood. I wanted to try the very known "Fish and chips" so this place seemed a good choice. And it was good indeed. A big haddock filet with some "homemade" chips for less than 7pounds. Not a wonderful price, but not bad too. This was my second time in England and this "fish and chips" were way better than the one I tasted the time before. I'd go there again and walk in the MediaCity UK just outside this mall. It's a very modern and beautiful place close to the river.
Alex and Kelly were very friendly and helpful and had the best onion rings and fish and chips I’ve ever tasted, highly recommend!
The chips were nice, but what did surprise me was the amount of scraps that were included. When I used to go to the chippy as a lad, I used to be asked "Do you want scraps with that?" That was because all the scraps were removed and sold separately, or added as a bonus if you wanted them added to a portion of chips. When you ordered chips, that was all you got because all the scraps had been removed. Those days seem long gone, and increasingly these days when you ask for chips you get half chips and half scraps. What has surprised me is that Harry Ramsdens have started doing this too. Harry Ramsdens used to remove scraps and only serve 'proper' chips, but it seems they no longer do that.
