Hidden under the hotel, this was a nice little discovery. I picked it as it was a 50% reduction with a taste card. It made the prices very reasonable for what was very tasty food. Butternut squash and coconut soup as a starter was gorgeous, steak with pink peppercorn sauce, hand cut fries and rocket salad very tasty indeed. I'd go again.
A very chic restaurant in Reading town centre.
I couldn't fault the food, however i felt that the service was not competitive with some of the other restaurants in Reading.
One thing that did strike me as rather strange was the fact that bottles of wine that were ordered were not kept on the table, a member of staff kept them else where and would keep on topping us up throughout the night. The only problem with this is that when we went the service was not great so we were often without wine in our glasses, also it took a while from ordering the wine to actually getting the wine (we were halfway through our starters by the time the wine arrived at our table, and the starters took 20 mins to arrive).
We got a very nice surprise when we got our bill, we had a small box of handmade chocolates which i felt completed the experiance.
The bar is very good, I would personally reccomend the pear and elderflower bellini to anyone who plans on going to the bar.
This is another one of our favourite polaces to eat in Reading. It is pricey but the food is of excellent quality. It's not the speediest but certainly the freshest so I don't mind waiting the extra mins as normally we go for a special night out. The cocktails are the best in Reading I feel. we sometimes go just for those. I have been for birthdays, anniversary's, celebrations and has been memorable evry time we have visited. we even went for breakfast once with our baby and the waiter even took her for a walk so that we could eat in peace!!! now that is service!
