Always walk past this shop. The pastries in the window always look incredible, but the exterior has put me off going in, never judge a book by it's cover though. Upon visiting, I saw it was a quaint little cafe, the man behind the counter was incredibly nice, and very passionate about his products, I bought a Portuguese Egg Tart and a Croissant. Both very obviously home made, which is impressive. Taste was un-matched, haven't eaten pastries so good since living in France!
Returned a few weeks later and picked up a couple of bakewell tarts, again, incredible flavour. Pastry was spot on! Buttery and crisps, thin but thick enough to hold the filling. Best Bakewells I've ever eaten. I'll be returning to buy more pastries more frequently!
I only wanted a coffee when I went in but left with a lot more.
I knew nothing about this lovely little place before I went in. The tables were busy with customers but that didn't stop me from being served at the counter quickly. Now I only fancied a coffee but while I waited for it to be made I was drawn in by the cakes... oh boy... cakes!
I left with a great drink and two custard tarts.
The price was spot on, the service was spot on and the tarts... spot on!
5* for the entire package.
I'll be back!
Absolutely the best pastries, had the Portuguese tarts and the apple custard tart today - simply delicious!
