I’ve eaten BBQ all over Texas and the South for 10yrs, this place is legit. Well-seasoned, slow-smoked almost falling-apart brisket. Sauce pretty good, not too sweet. They use the proper imported whole US brisket rather than smaller, British grass-fed lean ones which don’t really work as well. The smoked beef rib plate rib was huge (450g) and really good with housemade pickles. Fries and sides need some work. Picnic benches are cool, only rubbish bins are the big ones! Cool and fun adventure finding it, too. Great find. Go now!
Great Short Rib and Peanut Oil Fries, although the rib could use a bit more flavour, and they should have at least ONE hot BBQ sauce. 4 stars only because its a bit expensive (no fries with the £20 rib) , could have a little more flavourful spices and they are sort of in the middle of nowhere in a rather unkept area. Also no pork, and you have to wait until after 5pm for Brisket or Ribs. But overall one of the best places in London to get nice Beef Ribs the size of a car muffler. :) If you are down south near Balham, I suggest Smoke Daddies (check my reviews and photos) who have the same style rib, including fries for a bit cheaper and tastier!
OK. So first up the food is amazing. As a BBQ guy I know good BBQ and this is legit. Really well smoked. Good sides and condiments.
Had the brisket fries (absolutely fave!) and had the short rib. Brisket fries were amazing and would deffo go back for that. Ribs were fall off the bone delightful but a little fatty...to fair that is the cut of meat.
Two negatives....minor.....location isn't great and seats outside not viable when it's raining. So it's a bit of an adventure. Prices are high in my opinion for what is not a restaurant with seats and service. £20 for brisket fries when I'm going there myself picking up and walking off. Seems steep....although I admit the price of beef is sky high.
Overall a very worth Mecca for BBQ fans.
