Bumpkin is a fab brasserie in Chelsea serving great, British fayre. They are well known amongst the locals for their delicious brunches but I’ll need to save that for another day. My visit this evening was to the inaugural bi-monthly food and wine pairing dinner. The guest winery to be featured tonight was the Huia Vineyards from that well-known wine producing region of Marlborough, New Zealand. We were to be dining in the lovely covered garden area which is very pretty and if you watch reality tv was also the setting for the 4th of July party on the show ‘Ladies of London’. The tables were set and my fellow diners and I were looking forward to some tasty dishes and some great wines.
The restaurant Bumpkin is located in the Chelsea area and it is situated in two floor venue and it offers traditional British Kitchen. It is situared in the Sydney street, close to Kings Road. The closest tube station is South Kensington.
The ingredients are delivered freshly every day and prepared from major and experienced chefs.
I would recommend to share the small Bucket of king prawns and the small BBQ pork ribs as a starter and the Angus beef burger or the Poached wild Scottish salmon as a main meal.
If you're dining at Bumpkin, the place you want to be is the very cosy garden strung up with twinkly lights where even when the nights are cold, you can sip a cocktail in relative warmth.
The plum pudding was a stunner of a drink and for nothing else, I would spend endless hours warming up a corner at Bumpkin.
The menu is wide and varied and there is something for absolutely everyone. I opt for a crayfish cocktail which is a bit of a twist on a retro prawn cocktail which I absolutely love, and it lived up to the mark! The sticky gooey ribs were pronounced as an enormous hit, falling off the bone and with oodles of flavour.
For mains, I opted for the scallops in cauliflower pureee, which are a starter but can also be ordered as main option and these were the best scallops I have ever had. FACT. And you know how much seafood I eat!
Sadly I didn't have a chance to stay for a dessert but the tweets I was seeing showing off the other desserts convinced me to come back another day for more!
