Patisserie Valerie in Covent garden used to be one of my favourite treat spots. Now on my visit to London I see they are everywhere! I stopped in after a tour of East London and had the classic mousse cake, it was hard to choose what to have but the cake was delicious and didn't disappoint!
It's a cold dull morning and my hunt for the best coffee in London is still on.
I went here to meet a colleague and it was nice and quiet.
They ran out of the butter croissants so I settled for almond, which wasn't great.
The cappuccino was good, strong.
I liked the painted wall (pic attached)
Will go back for dessert and a proper English breakfast.
I came here on Wednesday afternoon and despite the fact it was well past lunchtime, the place was still packed. If I hadn't just nailed a pizza, I could easily have buried my face in one of the delightful cakes displayed at the counter, but instead, I amused myself with a coffee or two.
I started with a double espresso and finished with a black coffee. What?! I hadn't had my morning coffee fix! It's no surprise that the coffee was rich and deliciously deep in flavour because at Patisserie Valerie, they serve Illy coffee, which as far as I'm concerned, is the best brand going.
I was a little envious of those at the table next to me as they tucked into their chocolate muffin and strawberry tart, so I made a mental note to bring my appetite the next time I go.
The place was filled with a mix of business types having informal meetings and tourists in need of a little respite from the cold as they went about their sight-seeing day. The staff were friendly enough but lacked the attentiveness of those in a restaurant proper rather than a cafe.
From the looks of things, they also do cakes to order and the high finish makes it the perfect choice for that special occasion.
Patisserie Valerie serves many desserts and drinks but I just ended up just having a vanilla ice cream. I have to say, the ice cream is far less thick and creamy in comparison to other ice cream in the area, and they seem to focus on more traditional flavours. On a hot summer’s day, I would recommend grabbing an ice cream and sitting on one of the benches outside. There is usually something going on in the street that’s interesting to watch.
Overall, an average ice cream as there is better out there for a cheaper price. Although I only had an ice cream, maybe I should come back and try another dessert.
This is my favorite patisserie in London. It has a very good selection of cakes, tarts and mousses. I mostly order Bday cakes from this place and they are always fantastic. You can't go wrong. My personal favorite is - Strawberry Gateau. Their Hot chocolate is also very creamy and tasty - We often go to this place for a quick indulgent bite when driving by Spitalfields..
Really god place for breakfast and brunch. The eggs Benedict are fantastic. It has also really good cake ordering services and the cakes are delicious. You can order online and just pick up at the store, which was really handy as they have stores everywhere. Ordered in short notice and still managed to get a personalized cake so really satisfied.
If you have a sweet tooth then you must visit Patisserie Valerie .. they have cafes dotted across town but I find this particular one quite spacious. I usually do a take away and sit outside where there is a nice sitting area under a canopy. Deducted one star for slow service. It is usually busy here and staff is very courteous.
Having read some of the reviews I was expecting the worst! I was pleasantly surprised. I was seated within 5min of arriving, our waitress was efficient and pleasant and the food was fine ( we ordered the traditional afternoon tea and although I've had better high teas, they also cost a lot more) !
It's value for money and I would definitely return.
I love their All Day breakfast. Especially the full English. I'd only ever been here for the cakes which are amazing. But one time after seeing the massive queue for The Breakfast Club I noticed they did breakfast here and it's been my go too spot when ever I'm around Liverpool Street.
Very decent price.. They make a nice hot chocolate and the venue is good too. Especially in the summer when you're sitting outside.
Nice place to get breakfast and tea. I went there twice and would definitely go again.
