I jog past Queensway all the time and would pop by the oriental supermarket there every now and then as well. But I’ve never really taken any notice to Queensway Market. It was when Normah from Normah’s invited us over to review her food where we finally discovered the place. To be honest, we aren’t at all impressed with the market but we’re ecstatic to have now discovered this hidden gem inside it – the restaurant Normah’s.
One thing I love about London is that there is always something new to find. Sometimes, in the most unlikely of places. I am referring here to food of course. The arts often seem to be too far above my head. As my friends like to say, perhaps this is because I seem to lack culture. I don’t know my Dvořák from my Tchaikovsky or my Monets from my Pissarros. Yet, putting such meaningless abuse to one side, I like to style myself as knowing more than the common man about food (or at least pretending to).
I came here with my friend last month. I had Nasi Ayam Penyet. The portion was big and the price is reasonable I consider it is cheap.Normah was nice and friendly. She even offers me free Kuih Ketayap. I hugely recommended if you are looking for Authentic Malaysian food in Bayswater or Queensway.
Cannot recommend it enough and cannot wait to be back. Incredible homey food and a really good selection of local options. The roti was out of this world, just melting in our mouths. The sea bass was super delicious and the lemon mint was a good cooler on the side. The stir fried rice was also really good. The prices were very reasonable and the service was more than friendly! We booked same day in advance. Highly recommended!
Family run, small, cosy cafe in Queensway Market. Amazing authentic Malaysian food. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. We had aubergine asam pedas, roti with dhal and mee goreng vegetables. Will definitely come back to try other dishes for sure!
Absolutely amazing, authentic Malaysian food (verified by a friend who is Malay!) The roti was the best I have had before, so fluffy and crispy, almost like the experience of having a croissant with how it crumbles. Casual environment, it is at a back of a shopping mall type space off Queensway. They can get very busy so take time to have a leisurely meal and book in advance!
It’s so delicious! Highly recommend the beef rendang, the most delicious beef stew I have ever eaten, the beef is soft, sweet and spicy. It's really delicious with the roti, but the roti is too oily for me. The fish I take away is also delicious, it tastes like home cooking.
Hole in the wall, family run restaurant with absolutely delicious and authentic Malaysian food (verified by our Malaysian friends :)). Everything is made to perfection and best to get there earlier to ensure you get your preferred dish. Portion size is also perfect. Can't wait to be back for another meal!
