I admit now I didn't have food here, only drinks. Came to this place last week with two of my friends via Fuller's tour which is located next to the brewery. Had a cheeky half pint before the tour started. Whilst drinking Oliver's Island (one of the ales on offer) which was an easy drinking ale. I can see this pub is steeped in history with its old plaques, photo and pictures of the founding members of the Brewery. The interior is like you normal gastropub with some greenary but clean and tidy. I do recommend going to Fuller's tour for any budding beer, ale and stout fans!
Cool historic pub next to a legendary brewery! The food was very good. Their mashed peas have mint in them! Steak and ale pie as well as the fish and chips were well executed. Check this place out!
Fuller's employees can be seen coming in to get food as well, which is cool to see.
The interior atmosphere wasn't as inspiring as I hoped but the staff, beers, and food kept my spirits high! Service was really good, they were very friendly.
I visited this Pub in August 2017.
I ordered a burger. The burger was OK but not great. The bun was a bit dry and so was the burger meat. I was told by the lady with whom I placed their order that their burgers are supplied every other day. I was pleased she said the truth.
The chips were delicious.
Toilets were clean.
The ambiance is that of a typical pub but very comfortable and welcoming.
Service was great and honest.
I would have e given it 5* had the burger quality been 5* but in my view it was not, maybe 3*.
So all in all good experience.
