Awesome atmosphere, decent music, nice staff! The food is really, really good and very affordable. I had chorizo with fresh grilled vegetables and bloody quail eggs for starter, an amazing, freshly made and heavily stacked burger for main plus a pint of Coke and it was about £17. If I lived here I would be in this place all the time. Could t recommend highly enough. Banging!
quality food, quality ale, quality music. ........
Chilled local with nicely mixed age crowd. Large beer garden, nice Tretchikoff collection :). One of my favourite locals.
Hi from Canada . I was visiting my High School friends ( from Canada )who live in London . They took me to the George for some wobbly Pops . The staff and patrons were very cool & friendly . My mind was blown away when I ordered my pint and to my left I saw a cat just chilling like a villain on the bar . Enough said ! A must tourist attraction ! Best pub in London in fact the World
Definitely visit if around! Great food, ambient plus some real friendly staff. Top shelf!
The Old George is a beautifully restored London pub, dating back to the 1700s, found at 379 Bethnal Green Road. Under the ownership of the Antic Collective, The Old George recently opened a restaurant on the first floor of its establishment, where you’ll find fantastic food served in quaint and cooky surroundings.
God bless the old George for having non-alcoholic beer! And fit staff
Karim aka meerkat is a great man. Lovely place with a huge beer garden. Good selection of beers as well. Refreshing change from the very common fosters carling blah blah. I chose the sagres which I think is Portuguese and it was lovely. If you're in east London on a sunny afternoon it's definitely worth nipping in for a quickie
Relaxed and homely atmosphere. A nice place for a Sunday roast.

❤️ A versatile Bethnal Green boozer.

The Old George is located amongst the hustle and bustle on Bethnal Green Road. The nearest tube is Bethnal Green which is only a five minute walk away.
.
This pub is believed to have been present by 1703 and by the mid-nineteenth century was trading as the George IV. It was rebuilt in its present form in 1880.

The decor here is rustic with exposed brickwork walls and a dark wood floor running throughout. There is plenty of low level seating and banquette sofas around the perimeter walls. Down the right hand side is a good size servery with barrels above advertising upcoming events. If you like your live sport you’re in luck, there are large screens showing Premier League, Six nations and the like. Even though this isn’t a riverside pub there is a slight nautical feel to the place. A big bonus here is the large beer garden at the rear which gets very busy in the warmer months.
.
The beer line up was decent and included craft and cask options. Being the boring fart that I am I chose a pint of Amstel, my pint was very agreeable and under six quid. There is a good selection of comfort food on the food menu, burgers and pizzas are the order of the day, the food did smell good.
.
The atmosphere was relaxed on this Saturday afternoon with a dozen or so punters in for the footy. There were a few tables with reserved signs on which I’m not a fan of, some pubs seem to operate this way to guarantee business, so I can see why. The crowd was mix of all ages until about twenty young lads walked in which lowered the aggregate some what. This pub livens up in the evenings and has DJ and Karaoke nights throughout the month.
.
I last visited @theoldgeorgebg back in 2017 and not a lot has changed. My review was positive then and I can report that my review is positive now. There is plenty to enjoy at this boozer, get this one on the list.

The Karaage Kid chicken burger was amazing. It's crispy chicken with coleslaw and a little bit of spice. Five stars for that. The fries are like twigs though, those need an upgrade. I came here to watch a football game and I'm glad I did - there are loads of screens and lots of seating. Good beer selection too. Will definitely be back.
This is a very decent pub with a good sized beer garden, with a great choice of food and drink.
Let me not forget the great service received whilst we dined!!!
Great little spot with cool decor and has a spacious beer garden, staff were friendly and the food was good 👍🏻 always pop in when I’m in the area 🍻
Charming traditional London Pub. We didn't eat there, however they had a good collection of craft beers I couldn't resist London Pride which was in perfect condition. The barman knew all about how to cellar.real ales and it showed in the product
