Santa Maria Del Sur is a cosy little Argentinian restaurant in Battersea which celebrates its 10th birthday this week!. I was invited here for a media get together a little while back and really enjoyed the restaurant. I have such great memories from South America and I always love trying restaurants here in London that remind me of those good times. The exterior of Santa Maria Del Sur is quite subtle but as soon as you step inside, you can feel the South American vibe as you’re surrounded by dark wooden decor. I like that the restaurant has remained authentic throughout the years and it doesn’t have a chain-restaurant atmosphere.
When an email popped into my inbox about lunch at an Argentinian restuarant, my first thought was HOLY HELL YES. Because I love me some steak. And red wine. And having lunch with other awesome London food blogger types. Hello lovely Sunday. Typically, the Central line was being a pain and I ended up missing my train from Waterloo by seconds. I was totally that person who runs up to a leaving train looking dishevelled and distraught and swearing a fair bit. Good job there was another one to Vauxhall in a few minutes, eh? I hopped in an Uber and managed to make it to the restautant, only 20mins late, and perched my bum down next to Alex and opposite Em. Thankfully, they didn’t berate me for my lateness…too much.
This place does some of the best steaks in town. All steaks are cooked on hardwood fire grill unlike all other restaurants that cook them on gas grills, so they have so much flavour. The place itself is nothing special and really far form central London. Nevertheless its all about the steaks here and they are amazing
