We had no idea this place was opposite the Cathedral. Only noticed it as we walked passed the corner and noticed all the garden furniture initially hidden by the wall. Decided to give it a try as we were desperate for a coffee and something to eat. We sat in the delightful little conservatory/atrium at the rear, which looks out over the main garden area. Noticed that I was seated in the aptly named 'Naughty Corner'. The whole interior is quite stunning and worth a visit simply to check it out.
Coffee satisfactory, but the scone, although a decent size to share, was a bit on the dry side.
I was a bit torn in deciding if it warranted five stars, then noticed the 'CASH ONLY' sign. Oh dear - an automatic deduction.
Neat establishment that serves tea, coffee and food. An updated interior, which still feels classically British, is comprised of a couple small interior rooms connected to an atrium having many small windows on the back. Behind the atrium, outside tables are provided for fair weather. We’ve had tea here twice, and lunch which was tasty. The waitstaff has been engaged and conscientious each time we have been here these the past two days.
Arrived at this wonderful location located just across the road from the cathedral. Have to say not an extensive menu. Had the poached eggs on toast added mushrooms as well and my friend had cheese and pickle sandwich with a side of chips
The food was beautiful and the eggs cooked to perfection.
They have a wonderful selection of cakes and scones as well.
You can even sit in the naughty corner if you can find it!
Really would recommend a visit here.
