Great food! I feel no shame in admitting that I've sampled the food at over 30 or so Oriental Takeaways throughout Glasgow over the last decade. My first and only experience of Shawlands Kitchen (which has replaced the previously known as Tao) was excellent. I always approach a new Oriental takeaway with some initial anxiety. Too many times I've tried out a new place only to fill sick and dehydrated as though I have drowned in MSG and salt. I was very pleasantly surprised with Shawlands Kitchen. The dishes and their ingrediants have been prepare thoughtfully and cooked exactly as it should be, the menu offers an extensive range of dishes for every preference and the portion sizes are generous. Furthermore, the food has been priced sensibly and they offer additional money off on orders over £20. Last but not least, my experience of conversing briefly with the owners was great. They are lovely. My overall experience of Shawlands Kitchen was exactly what I hoped it would be, which was satisfying and fulfilling in every way. This is my first and only trip, so the only question that remains (for me) is whether or not they continue to produce food like this consistently but as far as I'm concerned, they've set the bar high. Easy 5 stars from me.
They make good salt and chilli chips and I've seen the kitchen, it's always clean and I never find a hair and jelly gravy.
But I'm sure they will improve for a few errors. It's sometime late delivery cause the driver stuck in traffic jam.
Love this little place! They're very welcoming and offer free prawn crackers and a bottle of water with each order, which I think is nice. The food is delicious, too, and you get great value for money.
