First time in Maryhill and we tried this coffee shop. Very nice coffee and French toasts! I really like this place and I totally recommend it!
To sum up this wonderful cafe, I would use the phrase "Perfectly balanced". Let me paint you a picture...
you're hungry, and in a new part of town, you have no idea where you want to eat, but you park up next to this small, and humble looking place called "Lois Cafe", you decide to take a chance.
Upon entering, you give a subtle smile for their simple yet welcoming interior, the staff are nice, but not overbearing, you take a seat.
You are given a menu, you notice the usual full breakfasts with your typical egg and bacon, you're debating the choice but then your eyes are captured by word "crepes". In particular you notice the words "Spicy Chicken". Now this small, seemingly typical cafe, has your absolute full attention!
You order a Coffee to get wet your appetite, and once it promptly arrives the air is filled with the beautiful smell of freshly roasted coffee beans. You take a sip and are immediately entranced by the rich flavour, not too strong, not too sweet, just smooth and perfectly balanced, you now have a new favourite coffee in town.
Once your crepes arrive, you notice they are perfectly pale gold, even your French girlfriend is impressed. They are evenly cooked and there is a great ratio between crepe, filling, and side salad. You catch a slight aroma from your meal, your mouth waters and you simply must try it immediately.
You pick up your knife and fork, you cut your first mouthful, the knife glides across the crepes surface with ease, and you smile from disbelief, this seems too good to be true. You take your first bite, your mouth filled with flavour, the chicken is succulent, the red peppers are melt in the mouth, the spice is subtle, another perfect balance, you're in heaven.
I could take more of your time explaining how wonderful the dessert was, the reasonably cheap price, or the fact we just had to take another coffee to go, but I'll leave that up to you to discover, and by my word it is worth discovering.
The perfect little accident, started by giving a small cafe a chance. Rest assured I'll be back, very soon.
They serve the Robusta bean coffee which easily competes with Dear Green and other artisan alternatives. Typically the Robust bean has x2 the amount of caffeine and those familiar with Bei&Naninni coffee will recognise the flavour instantly. The breakfast is first class. We both had poached eggs with bacon served on toasted bread. Beautifully cooked and presented. I would recommend any of the breakfast dishes and I know I’ll be back soon.
