It’s sometimes rather enjoyable to bring together two interests in one, and I was afforded the opportunity to do so with today’s visit to the Chapter House Cafe on Bothwell Street. The two interests on this occasion were my enjoyment of cafes in bookshops, such as Madigan’s or Looking Glass Books, and my joy at visiting ecclesiastical cafes. The Chapter House is a cafe in a religious bookshop, you see.
Lovely food (the lentil soup was wonderful!) and drinks, if slightly pricey!
So 5 stars for food and service, only 4 for atmosphere because the cafe is all hard flooring and glass windows, so its hard surfaces amplify the noise and it can sometimes be quite difficult to hold a conversation. Maybe carpet tiles, or tablecloths or curtains would help … ?
Brilliant place. 3 generations having brunch. Full cooked breakfasts, poached eggs on sourdough and cheese n ham toastie....all cooked to perfection.
