A great addition to the south side. Went entirely seafood for first visit and had scallops in an anchovy butter followed by hake in tomato and mussels sauce. Both were very good. Unpretentious rustic fare done very well. Just the way I like it. And decent service too.
We had such a lovely evening in Zeno. The food & wine were delicious and the waiting staff were great. Unless the menu changes frequently the only thing that would prevent me from returning in the near future is that i’m vegetarian and there were only two veggie dishes (as it’s tapas I’d have to have the same thing). Great to have such a nice place open up in the neighbourhood.
Its a handy location if you live in Pollokshields, but I can't imagine anyone travelling from further afield to visit Zeno. The tapas are good, and the meatballs were excellent but the quality dropped on my second visit. The second time I came in the chocolate cake was half the size of the previous visit and instead of being moist and gooey was a bit dry. The polenta cake is really dry and at £5 for a slice of cake (which is ridiculous for a neighborhood cafe) you'd expect more. It is really a neighborhood cafe with pretensions of being a fancy restaurant. Some of the dishes, like the squid, aren't great and let the menu down.
The service is lovely and the staff are great but the owner/manager is a bit odd. He lingered a too near when we were being served and it was awkward for everyone involved.
