A really enjoyable experience eating the four course seasonal tasting menu. The cooking was precise, the combination of ingredients well judged and the quantities just right. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Try not to eat too much bread, you'll find it difficult.
The Gannet as a restaurant is soothing to both eye and ear – autumn leafy hues of olive green, burnt amber and chestnut brown adorn each surface; leather bound menus, a corrugated iron bar and jazz crooning gently in the background. I’m kicking myself for arranging appointments afterwards, which means the fantasy of curling up languidly by the window with a big glass of red while watching the world go by, will have to wait.
With a stack of awards to its name including AA Best Restaurant of the Year and a Bib Gourmand from Michelin two years running, the pressure is on at The Gannet Glasgow to have an out of this world dining experience. The interior décor is ruggedly modern, with exposed brick and stonework, minimalist artwork as well as the muted colours. The focus is definitely on the food here and not on flashy surroundings, a good sign.
