A very pleasant dinner here, a somewhat limited menu choice but I was very pleased with my choices. The burrata starter was delicious, and I chose the salmon fillet for main course, with a langoustine bisque… could have eaten five more of those they were lovely. The atmosphere is warm and decor not described as modern. However, the restaurant did have a very welcoming field. Price wise I would say it is mid range, certainly not a cheap dinner. However, the quality was worth the price tag.
We have been to several restaurants in Durham and Finbarr's was certainly the best. The restaurant is comfortable and well designed for screened tables. All the food was delicious. We had the lunch set menu which was good value, as were the wines.
Main dish was a scotch beef. It was delicious. Starter is pigeon breast . Really good but other components on the dish were average. Decoration was very out dated.Room (up stairs) very claustrophobic.
Ambiance is really very poor. If you close your eyes and just focus on meal fine, else look for a better decorated place.
