Although a frequent visitor to Mersea Island, never been in The Coast Inn before, just wandered past. Such a lovely little place to eat and watch the world go by. Food was great. Loved the sofas, somewhere to sit and read or just gather your thoughts. Must make a point of returning on a cold winter's day and sit by the fire.
Visited today for father day so it was very busy and was impressed by the excellent service on such a busy day.
Staff were friendly especially a lovely lady who I believe was called Belinda who got a big hug from our daughter.
We all had a starters and a mains and they were all lovely. My skate was slightly undercooked which is easily done considering the thickness of it however they were very quick to rectify it and the replacement was delicious. This isn’t a criticism because all restaurants can make a mistake and it’s the way it is handled is what makes a good restaurant and they couldn’t have handled it any better.
Lovely food, lovely staff and excellent service. Best place on the island in my opinion. Will go again x
Been going here for years but don't think i've ever left a review (please forgive me!) THE best food. The fish and chips is a total classic but everything else i've had has also been amazing. Also definitely ask to see the dessert menu, its ace! I had the warm cookie dough and ice-cream and holy moly it was good! Basically if you go to Mersea you must go here!!
