Totally charming, unspoiled family run pub that I've been going to since I was in a pushchair. Food is delightfully simple, the finest round of beef & horseradish sandwiches you'll eat & brown soup, which is off the chart in the taste dept. It also has a superb selection of taxidermy. Too many other things & stories to list here. The best pub in the world.
It's a perfect pub. I have been to literally thousands of pubs here in the U.K., and around the world, both in a professional and in a social capacity, and this is the best one. This defines how a pub should be. Not surprising, then, that it has been listed in every single edition of the Good Pub Guide since the first in 1974. The Queen's Head is a must visit.
Peerless pub. Where else can you sit under a diorama of the Battle of El Alamein (the ceiling) and drink Adnams straight out of the barrel with perfect Aga-cooked rare beef with home made bread and horseradish? Just don’t tell anyone...
