When I was working in this area, I came to this restaurant twice. The first time was for lunch, where I had their country fried steak with gravy. Super delicious. The second time was the next day for their breakfast. The home fries are excellent, and the whole restaurant has a simple and clean atmosphere. Will come back in the future.
First, the bad. Service and cook times are so slooooooooooow. I'd like to hide this fact, by if you eat there you'll find out soon enough. If you are in a hurry or only have an hour for lunch just go to the next place on your list or you'll be angry and frustrated.
It's the chicken and egg conundrum. Do they hire mire staff and hope business increases because service times are faster, or do they increase marketing so that business improves and they can then afford to hire additional staff?
I've been going there for quite a few years and judging by the lack of change, the owner must be OK with the status quo of long service times and sparse business.
Don't be fooled. If you go in and there are only 5 or 6 other people in there, your food service time will still take a while.
Then why 4 Stars? Well, I only go in there when I know I have a few extra minutes to spare so I take the frustration out of the equation.
It's convenient with plenty of parking.
It's clean and you can ALWAYS get a table.
Amber is the bomb, and the food is terrific! Everything is always fresh and cooked properly. I've never had anything substandard from the kitchen.
The chicken pita with fries is fantastic. The chicken salad cold plate is great. Entrees are always hot and fresh. Same for the veggies. Have you ever been served veggies that look like they were cooked yesterday? Or that looked wilted because they were overcooked sitting in the pot too long? Not at Nicky's! The food is always spot-on.
The location is weird. It's set off the road a bit in kind of a run-down looking strip mall. You don't even notice it really. Nothing really "pulls" you into the business. You have to be looking for it or you'll just drive by and I've never seen any advertising for Nicky's.
So don't try Nicky's for the first time if you're in a time jam. But if you have an hour and ten minutes four lunch instead of 50 minutes for lunch, or you have some time before your next appointment or you have some time to relax, then give vs Nicky's a try.
You'll love the food!
Loved it. Great home cooked meals. Breakfast and Lunch plates are always fresh. This place is very clean. Open for breakfast and lunch. This is a spot everyone should try out
