Best bacon sandwiches and latte!!! The decor is a little old but the atmosphere is warm.
I came across this delightful little coffee stop on Christmas Day whilst walking the Walls. They had completely sold out of hot snacks so Brownie it was, a superb choice I have to say. The lemon drizzle cake looked fab too.
So literally in the bottom of the wall at Bootham Bar, with seating indoors and out during better weather. It was lovely and warm, I had to remove a couple of layers to prevent me melting. There's a small but perfectly adequate toilet available for customers.
The staff member/owner was super cheerful and helpful, very capable of engaging with the regulars and visitors. Would definitely visit again.
A beautifully quaint, city centre cafe, located opposite the Art Gallery, at the bottom of the Bootham Bar steps, which lead up to the Bar Walls in York. Hot breakfast and lunch options are available, + a range of hot drinks, which can contain flavoured syrups, if desired, + plenty of sweet treats to choose from too. All the food is cooked fresh to order, and brought over to the table by extremely friendly staff members. I would highly recommend the Bacon Buttie though - which could be rated as one of the best in York! Definitely worth a visit, + an added extra is that you can see some more ancient ruins of the Bar Walls through a glass floor within the premises. Recommended!
