I had a Haunch of Venison in a red wine jus which was excellent - very tasty indeed. I also ordered some broccoli as a side dish.
Once I started to eat it I began to remember that the broccoli was supposed to come with flaked almonds but there were no almonds. After a while I began to think that the venison should have had something with it as well. Looking at the menu online, I saw it should have been served with waffled fries and blackberry. It was not. No-one came to ask if everything was ok.
When I had finished the meal the waitress asked if I had enjoyed the food. After telling her it was delicious I pointed out that much of the meal was missing. She said that she had only known about this when she brought the food out of the kitchen. It struck me that perhaps that might have been the time to "fess up" rather than hope I didn't notice.
She came back with a bill that gave me a 25% discount. As a good 25% of the plate was missing I thought this was the least that was appropriate. As she had brought me the bill rather than offer me a desert (I was indeed intending to have one) or a coffee, I assumed they were no longer interested in my custom, paid the bill and left.
Not impressed with the service, impressed with the chef!
Went last weekend, my server Isobel was lovely and attended to everything I needed. She really made the experience for me. Will be coming back ☺️
