I have been wanting to try the food here for ages and both that and the surroundings did not disappoint.
I enjoyed the tasting menu, it was interesting and exciting and the staff were extra professional but also good fun when they realised that I like being playful.
I especially enjoyed eating the delicious food while watching a handsome guy cooking through the window.. What a treat!
I have been to Winterginham Fields a few times and booked it as a pre birthday treat with my partner, who had never been. I booked the Couples Retreat, which included the 8 course surprise menu. It was fantastic, a great variety of quality dishes served by the amazing staff, who's attention to detail is outstanding. As part of the booking, we also stayed over in a gorgeous room. Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to taste amazing locally sourced produce. It's a real gem hidden away in North Lincolnshire. I will definaltey be going back very soon.
My husband and I have stayed at Winteringham Fields before and I would have said it was impossible for them to improve, but they have. We were met in the car park and ushered into the building. We were shown our room which was very luxurious with a huge bathroom. There was even a cupboard which was fitted out with a coffee machine, kettle, choice of dozens of teas or coffees and even an ice bucket with a small bottle of real milk, a couple of bottles of water and a small pack of home made biscuits (delicious!).
We had pre-dinner drinks in the conservatory - the staff knew that we had been with them before and even remembered how to do my husband's favourite drink and that I hated coriander. Jim and I chose the 9-course taster menu together with a selected of wine to match each course. There are not enough superlatives to tell you with any sense of justice, just how much we enjoyed the meal. The young sommelier explained where each wine originated, the grapes used, the aromas and tastes we could expect to experience - he only looked about 12 (to our combined years of 120!) but boy did he know his stuff. What with the wines and Colin McGurran's unbelievably delicious food served in creative, beautiful and ingenious ways which somehow manged to delight most of our senses (even our ears when one of the team described what each dish was). Special mention must go to the Tomato gazpacho with wholegrain mustard ice-cream (genius) and the truffle linguine (thought I'd died and gone to heaven).
The final element of this delightful stay was the Team. They are friendly, helpful, kind, chatty, knowledgeable and a credit to the ethos of Winteringham Fields. This is not a cheap evening out, but simply worth every single penny we spent.
Thank you Colin and Bex for elevating the simple art of eating into a heavenly experience!
