The service was genuinely friendly. The ambiance is warm and old school - the good kind. Food was pretty tasty. The only thing is the 16oz ribeye, though cooked to temperature, was a little too lean, making it tough. We are used to more marbling to our ribeye. Service was what make this place worth coming back. Food was not bad as well. đđȘ
It was our first time here (my wife and I) after dropping our son for orientation week at UWindsor for his first year. We phoned ahead to ask about the prix-fixe menu and was greeted with friendliness and helpfulness from Ninos. After our positive experience over the phone, we made a reservation and received impeccable service from Ninos, who happened to also be our server.
He took the time to explain the menu and highlighted Take Five's specialty in steaks. We ended up taking the trout as part of the prix-fixe menu and the 8 oz New York striploin at medium rare. Both were delicious. The strawberry flambé was also a hit for us.
Overall a wonderful experience.
Do not recommend getting any seafood here.
Highly recommend Madagascar Tenderloin Tips, Risotto and Brownie Ice Cream dessert.
Things that can be improved:
- (!!!) mixed seafood grill platter. My dining partner and I were very disappointed in this dish. The amount of fish given for 55$ was sad.. and it did not have any special flavours â in fact we both found it quite plain.
- The French Onion soup. I know what a good French onion soup is because I have lived in France â and this one still has room for improvement. The biggest thing that could be improved is the bread used insideâ itâs not the right kind. The right kind would not get as soggy as the one they used did. There was also too much bread. It IS good but it can certainly be BETTER, and it is not me being overly picky â there is really true room for improvement.
- CrĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e: donât get me wrong it was good, but it was not that great. If Iâm paying a lot for it, it better be really good.
Not for the things that were AMAZING:
- the service was exceptional
- Madagascar Tenderloin Tips (meat was cooked perfectly, flavour of the meat & sauce was OUTSTANDING, portion was good)
- brownie dessert
- risotto that came with mixed seafood dish
- atmosphere in back room (definitely romantic)
