We were a group of 5 that ate here last week and we all agreed that this was our favourite dining experience of our European trip. It was a costly experience but incredibly well worth it. The premises and view of the lake was stunning. They started our experience with champagne in the living room filled with beautiful and prestigious artwork. We were then moved into the dining room to begin our meal which lasted for 2 hours. We were having the time of our lives. We were waited on by a team of 8-9 servers and the sommelier who had a vast knowledge. The food was outstanding!!! I have to say that our money was absolutely well spent! I a highly recommend this restaurant dining experience. If I ever come back to the Lake District I would stay at this hotel.

Bacon Onthebeech

Lunch at The Samling reminded me a little of our recent visit to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, in that there is nothing too outlandish or experimental here but everything just works supremely. It's a very safe bet in the very best way and what you might expect in a country house hotel. They also have a new chef with a high pedigree. Nick Edgar's previous role was was as Head Chef at the two Michelin starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. There are obviously more big plans here including an extension, building a larger dining room and what looks like a new entrance up from the main road and lake below.
