Just had an amazing late night tea with t'other half. He had lamb shank shepherds pie (yes you heard correctly) a desperate Dan style shepherd pie with a whole lamb shank embodied within! Sounds ragged but the subtly of flavour was divine.!
I - being on a 'diet' - chose rare rump steak with a baked potato and veg. The steak was cooked beautifully- no need to chew - and the veg - OMG the veg! No rubbish bendy wilting khaki effort here! Romanesco, baby carrots and French beans.
The staff were an absolute joy and it's simply the best place in the area.
Desperately needs a refurbishment but the team offer great service, drinks and food with the resources greene king allow.

Myself and my family have been going to the Unicorn for years.
All the different occasions that come about, they are always celebrated at the Unicorn,including Christmas which is always a great time.
We are looked upon as friends each time we go and Mary and her staff look after us, we even have our own table in the restaurant!
If you are looking for somewhere to eat, where the food is excellent and the staff are friendly you won't go far wrong with the Unicorn.
Fantastic service by all the staff, couldn't do enough for us, even getting table service and VIP service for our four legged friend. Lovely food. Well priced will definitely be back �

We had two well behaved dogs with us. It's a great dog friendly pub. Staff were really nice and the food was lovely too. We will definately be going back x

My group of ladies go here once a month for lunch and a Tribute act. Can be up to 20 going. John the manager is most accomodating. In summer it can be very pleasant sitting outside and in winter its moved inside. Usually there from 12.30pm. Act starts at 2pm and all done for 4pm
Great pub, lovely staff and good value. Steak and ale pie was delicious. Kids meal went down a treat!
I took my mum here last night after her radiotherapy session to keep her spirits up. I had no idea that The Unicorn really had a magic about the place. Hannah recognised my mum from just one previous visit and came rushing out to give her the warmest hug and made her the most incredible drink of water mixed with fruits (my mum is off her food, but this drink she lapped up). Hannah then went about organising some of the celebs that were in that night to come and have their photo taken with my mum, which they obliged with full enthusiasm and kudos to these guys for taking the time out of their evening to blast a massive bolt of joy at my mum. The real stars though were Hannah and Molly who showed us real magic of human kindness. This is no ordinary place!
Great pub with a huge beer garden half of it covered . Food is lovely. Proper pub grub at a great price. Two full size meals from the pub classic menu for £14.69. Makes a change from the overpriced Wilmslow centre eateries. Fantastic value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. They even have monthly tribute band afternoons on a Wednesday for £13.50 including a meal. Not been to one yet but I'll be giving it a go. Well recommended 👍👍
Great local chain. Has a very classic pub vibe. Plenty of screens to watch your football. Great food and attentive service. Great guys.
Excellent food and excellent value. We are regulars, but for the first time the gents’ lavatory floor was wet and smelt strongly of urine.
Used the disabled lavatory, but lavatory paper dispenser was locked, but the short end of a roll balanced on the top sufficed.
Didn’t spoil a happy birthday event, but I didn’t expect this. Has been many years since I regularly came across this in pubs.
Was served by Hannah who did an amazing job making sure our food was fantastic. The service at the bar also didn't fail to disappoint with a wide range of ales available. Would go again!
Great place, really good vibes, good people, good food, staff go out of their way to accommodate, great for sport, darts and pool table and lovely outside area.
Just had a Sunday lunch it was disgusting, beef & turkey were processed, beef was really tough, Yorkshire pudding was Rock hard to the point I couldn't cut it, sent it back and second one was awful too. Veg & roast potatoes were frozen rubbish. Didn't eat it and would never return.
Perfect as usual. Atmosphere was very relaxing, warm and friendly. Mylo dog was well looked after too. Food was really good and the service was excellent.
A great pub with standard Greene King food, that's to say relatively good, however they'd run out of fondant dessert the first time we came here a couple of weeks ago. Having won a £20 bar tab at the quiz last Tuesday, however, we will be back soon.
The Unicorn is a good solid Robinsons pub. Great outside area at the back and dog friendly. We visited at the end of a very busy mother's day. Lamb shank was a winner and the fish and chips was average. Staff are very friendly. Pub is looking a little tired but a friendly atmosphere
We go regularly to the Unicorn to support the Pub as there never seems to be many people there and although it's quite dark inside on good weather days it does attract people to the outside area which is a lovely area again we think the inside needs updating its dark and not very welcoming sorry to say this but we wonder whether this is the reason there never seems to be many customers inside, we tend to go in on a Saturday evening rather than in the week.
