Just had haddock and chips plus a pea fritter (greedy I know), best I've ever had. Batter perfect and so crispy, mountain range of awesome chips. The fish was meaty almost like rump steak, can't wait to go back. The staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming.
Wow. As a Yorkshireman I am very reluctant to admit that cod could possibly rival the quality of jumbo haddock cooked in beef dripping. However, I really cannot remember ever having better fish than I've had from Daniels, twice this week. Succulent, fresh, firm , snow-white cod in golden, crisp batter with no cakiness and not even a thin layer of uncooked batter. I wish I had their secret of how to achieve this and keep the fish as moist as it is.
If I have one criticism (and the quality of the fish massively outweighs this), it is that the chips could maybe have had a couple of extra minutes in the oil. Hardly a deal breaker but get the chips right and these would have to be amongst the best f&c on the planet!
Not the cheapest but portions are large (regular fish are as big as some "specials" and we buy two large chips for 4 people) and the quality of the fish alone negates any feeling of having been short changed.
You may have guessed that I love fish and chips; you'd be right. Try these and please let me know if you ever find any better!
Enjoy the food from here. If I had any comment, it would be crisper chips. We go for large cod and chips and share as the portions are generous. Its also the closest chip shop to us. We are pleased about that.
