After a visit up the hill to visit the park and views up by Fort Nothe we headed back down the hill on the side of the harbour and towards the pier at the base of the Fort. That's where we found the Stone Pier Café.
It's been under new management and ownership since April 2017 and it's had a complete overhaul away from beans on toast and microwave pasties to tasty fresh delights like whitebait, calamari, Dorset crab and falafel. If that's not to your taste then you'll find "safe" options like cheese toasties and hot dogs.
We (my wife, four children and parents in law) tried the Dorset crab sandwich, a couple of varieties of toastie (which were deliciously fried rather than a toasted sandwich maker), hot dog, falafel and hummus wrap, and squid fingers (like fish fingers, but squid). They were all delicious. The coffee was also freshly ground and great quality also. The meal was finished off with Mr Whippy (with a flake) all round which we took down to the little, secluded pebbly beach at the base of the Fort right by the café.
The location is fantastic with panoramic views from Weymouth, the harbour and round to the Jurassic coast and open sea. You can see in my photos just how well situated the café is. The owners and staff were really, really friendly which is always the difference between a good place to eat and drink and a great place to eat and drink.
If you're that side of Weymouth visiting the Fort then make sure you stop by.
What an amazing place lovely scenery, scrumptious food great service and the tranquil relaxed atmosphere is well worth absorbing. Well worth a visit. Highly recommend the cream tea or icecream or both like I did. I will be back for sure
The family and I stopped here today at this hidden gem for a gorgeous lunch. Yummy sarnies and an amazing tortilla, with a lovely view thrown in. Would highly recommend. Dog friendly. Child friendly. The owners are just lovely too!!
