I visited Portello for a relaxed evening meal with the children. We tried all of the homemade juices, and every one was delicious.
There is a reading area, a notice board for local events, a dog friendly snack and drink station, and best of all, a pay it forward coffee / hot chocolate initiative, which I really liked. There is a childrens colouring in sheet which was one sided - my daughter pointed out they were wasting paper 🙈
The bar service took a while, but when I switched to the app, the drinks came much quicker.
The portion sizes appeared small at first, but we couldn't finish any of our plates, so maybe they could plate the food differently to avoid the initial disappointment.
Overall, the food was nice, we left satisifed and happy.
I visited Portello Lounge a few years ago for food (as a teen) with family, and I was very impressed by the food and service back then. A few years later, we thought we would go again when I was visiting but this time for cocktails (now that I am that age 😉).
Coming from a small town, I was amazed by 1. The Variety of cocktails they had and 2. The Prices (so much cheaper than what I am used to).
Even though it was very busy on a Saturday Night (and after the Nott Forest/Man City game) service was very quick and staff were extremely friendly. I had three cocktails in the end, and they were all delicious.
The restaurant and bar is really spacious, and the decor is really cool/retro (really up my street). I will definitely be coming back when visiting Nottingham again.
It is one of the few places that has a decent Gluten free menu. The staff were lovely. Food was gorgeous.
If I have one criticism the music was a little loud. Not too loud but everyone had to talk louder. Didn't really notice until we got outside though.
