We spent a fabulous evening cooking for North Indian Street Food dishes, which tasted divine. Our chef was kind, fun and informative, the staff were very helpful and professional. A great way to spend a team evening, and enjoy great food, learn new skills, and drink the odd glass or two of wine.
This is one of our favorite places. The bhajiyas and kenyan bhel are the main two items we come for. Eating there would be the best suggestion as you can enjoy a hot plate of crispy tasty bhajiyas. Take away will end up being soggy, especially now that they have introduced the whole bhajiyas in box takeaway. The staff are usually friendly but can get extremely messy if it starts to get busy as it does tend to get hectic. With the size of the shop and the amount of customers you could end up queuing outside. They have decided to bring the ordering technology which in my opinion hasn't worked out, sometimes if the old fashioned pen and paper order worked best to stick with it. Overall is a nice family restaurant with decent quality food. Would definitely recommend.
I'v been going to this place seen I was a kid and I tell you the taste has changed a fraction and sometime it's does make or taste the break.
Visited this place as seen the reviews and also remembered it from childhood of being amazing place for crispy bhajia.
Placed an order over the phone and collected a hot portion within 10mins. The flavour and ingredients were good and therefore also the taste. The chutneys that accompany the dish were very nice too.
The portion is generation - but could have been much crispier to get 5stars for me!
I would be happy to revisit.
Ok so I’ve read the recent reviews. It is pricey for a signature plate of bhajia if you eat in but the portion for take away is alot more! The food was good, crispy and tasty and I’ve eaten here (and taken away) afew times over the years…Service was fine.
Not sure why this place is getting such a bad rap. I’ve been going for years and since the change of owner I don’t see any change in the taste of their signature Maru Bhajia or chutneys. In fact we travel from Croydon to just have them! New owner is super pleasant every time we’ve seen him. We went there on Friday to pick up a takeaway and as we were the last customers of the day he gave us extra Bhajias and chutneys. Soo yummy! Love this place.
We always come here whenever we are in town! My mothers a native Kenyan and she says it's just the same from back home in Nairobi!
Undoubtedly the most famous bhajia dig in the country. Dating back well over 50 years and standing the test of time and taste, bhajias here are still some of the best you'll ever have, with decor to match. When a place this famed for one thing, don't order anything else.
For comparison, it's like travelling to Napoli and having to eat pizza at Da Michele. Only Da Michele have just 4 items on their menu, and they're all pizza.
