A very friendly pub and B&B that is rapidly becoming THE hidden gem in Wells next the Sea. Opposite the Church located in Burnt Street at the bottom of the High Street where it meets the Church Plain, this is where the harbour was originally before they blocked off the inlet with “new” marsh defences. Limited parking out front but a few minutes walk from the town centre only. Great food, good beer and at reasonable prices, unlike some of the other local pubs. Book early if you want to reserve a table, although there are a few tables on the rear patio that have wooden hut covering, in built heat lamps and complimentary rugs to keep you warm on chillier days. Well worth a visit. A charming pub and often not crowded.
Just had Sunday lunch here and have to say it was 1st class. Had roast lamb that was very tender and tasty. Tha accompanying veg was both tasty and piping hot. At last!!! Someone who knows how to make proper gravy!!! The staff were both friendly and professional with all care taken to ensure we enjoyed our visit. WE WILL BE BACK😀
In my opinion the Bowling Green is the best pub in Wells. Service is first class and all of the staff are lovely. I can't comment on the rooms as I haven't stayed here.
