Stopped by Ugly Mug for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch.
I had the beef tacos, and they were a burst of flavor in each bite. My wife went for the sourdough baguette with chicken, which she couldn't stop raving about.
We also shared a side of garlic and Marmite fries that were absolutely addictive. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection.
Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Well done, Ugly Mug, you've gained some new regulars!
Lovely bright and airy building with outdoor seating overlooking church. Hidden away gem! Food was delicious I had cinnamon biscotti french toast and husband had full English with particularly good sausage. Would recommend and definitely go again. Breakfast menu varied. Coffee lovely too! Price about average.
I came to the Ugly Mug coffee shop in Wellingborough today to grab some lunch it was a Friday afternoon and it was quite quiet. The man serving me today was very nice and i liked that there was a good display of what looked to be freshly baked products. I do have to say though there was no menu downstairs when ordering hut i can see upstairs they had. Perhaps the customers forgot to put it back down but it would have been helpful to be able to see all that was offered.
I ordered a Biscoff hot chocolate which was served to me upstairs however i do have to say i wasnt impressed that there wasnt a coaster so when he left the weight of the cream and toppings meant the cup overflowed and i couldn't see any napkins that i could use to fix this nor was this offered.
When i took a sip, the cream was very nice and i liked the biscoff toppings but while the top part was nice and crunchy the bottom was starting to disintegrate causing an unpleasant texture that reminded me of those dunked digestive biscuits that fall to the bottom of the cup
I also ordered a cheddar and jalapeno sausage roll which the staff kindly warmed up for me which was appreciated especially during the colder weather. It was served to me on a plate a knife and a fork with a napkin.
The pastry was a little on the soggy side perhaps as a result of it being reheated but there was a nice heat coming from the jalapenos. It does not give me the idea of it being a sausage roll though, it is more like sausage meat in a wrap. I liked the cheddar they used for this as it complimented the heat of the jalapenos.
It was not greasy and i liked the flavour. I would have loved to see some sort of tap water being available for a drink upstairs but otherwise, it was good.
For £7.50 for a hot chocolate and a nice sausage roll, i would give this place four stars. It is a nice place to go to, with a lot of options available. I would come here again.
