Can't comment on the rooms/hotel as only popped in for a few pints and some food on a Sunday evening.
Bar-service was great and everyone behind the jump was friendly and helpful. It's a Holt's and that is reflected in the selection of drinks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! There is a decent menu (I had the lasagne, which was very nice indeed), including special deals. Though, there is possibly better way (a bell?) to get the food from the kitchen to the floor than that old shout of "Service!" ("yes, Chef!").
Some tables out front, or a quieter beer garden at the back. Plenty of space inside, too, with some screens for sports, but they're not too intrusive.
This is the kind of village inn/pub every village should have!
Came in for breakfast as we were passing. First thing to point out is the red haired girl with braces on the bar, she really shouldn't be working in customer service or she desperately needs more training! Robotic and unhelpful. Refused to swap out black pudding and beans on breakfast for a few extra mushrooms which we found strange, never have issues anywhere else. Experience after that was great, breakfast food all tasted lovely, compliments to the chef. Would consider returning if the staff were more accommodating for the customers.
Food was lovely and fresh, place was very clean and tidy. Upon entering we were welcomed and took our order at the bar, food arrived quickly, we made a change to our order which was no hassle. Loads of space and no reservations required. Mixed grill was cooked perfectly and curry was also delicious. Ontop kids ice cream was very good portion. Hope to visit again soon
