Absolutely lovely! Used to come here a lot, but this was my first time back since it's been freshened up! The pub remains basically the same but it's been spruced up and is very warm and welcoming, full of character and just a lovely old country pub!
The staff were lovely and friendly and very chatty!
The food here has always been delicious, the pies simply to die for, so I ordered with baited breath hoping that the food here remained so tasty - I was not disappointed!!! The spiced pumpkin soup so scrummy, full of flavour and nice and warming on a lovely autumn afternoon. Now to the pie......... IT WAS AMAZING!!! I had the three cheese, spinach & apple pie with mash and seasonal veg, it was quite simply the best pie I've ever eaten, I could have had another one if I wasn't so full!!
The whole place has been given a lovely homely refresh and the updated B&B rooms look lovely, we will definitely be booking in for a weekend away so we can enjoy more delicious pies!!!!
The change has been for the better, food is still best pub grub in the area, staff are really nice and very professional. Had partridge tonight, cooked to perfection. Steak and Ale Pie is great, and the steam pudding is to die for on a cold winters evening.
And Lola is a sweetheart.
Been going to this pub since our first ever visit to Norfolk in 2014 when it was lit by gaslight!
Returned for an evening out on Sunday and had a fantastic meal. Food, beer, service and venue excellent.
My wife and I both had starters. Prawn salad and mushroom and garlic croquettes. Delicious. I then had the beef roast. Meat done to perfection, a lovely rich gravy and superb veg selection. A big Yorkshire pud topped it off. My wife had the homemade beefburger which again was superb. Back in September for more. Had no room for a dessert as the portions are excellent.
