This small restaurant is located ideally in the town centre. It only seats about 20 so booking is probably necessary at weekends but we visited mid week and found it quiet with only 2 other tables occupied. We were slightly early but seated immediately and service for drinks was fast. This is a tapas style menu with smaller dishes and the waitress was helpful in suggesting how many dishes to order.
I was quite surprised at the speed of the food which arrived within minutes. We were initially told that the dishes would be staggered but everything came more or less at the same time.
The food itself was very good; hot and tasty. There is a good variety available on the menu and everything seemed authentic. Desserts were lovely and I highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk; a real treat. Our dessert was even personalized for our anniversary which was a lovely gesture. I found the restaurant good value for money and would definitely return when next in Ulverston.
Thanks to all the staff at WSBI.
Went with a friend last night and WOW! What an experience. I wasn't sure what to expect with Pan Asian as you have to be able to pull of multiple cuisines so I was skeptical. Boy was my skepticism taken completely way upon leaving. We started with the 1 peach & 1 plum sake as an aperitif of sorts, both were exceptional and was just the right amount and served in a very unique way (see the picture).
We ordered a variety of dishes all of which were a mixture of gyoza, bao, sushi, some small plates just to have as much as possible from the menu. Every dish came out as they were made which we were made aware of from the get go by the waiting staff . This is important because some people may not enjoy this type of eating. The majority of dishes are made to share. For example when you order a bao bun, you get two and ordering the gyoza you get four. Couldn't fault the menu, there was a great blend of Pan Asian cuisine. The service was quick, are food started arriving minutes after we ordered!
The crab sushi was delicious although we failed to spot the wasabi on the plate and accidentally ate a large portion of it without realising and felt quite a bit of discomfort... with this dish, like the soy sauce, can you please put the wasabi on a separate dish to avoid destroying your customers' noses, it would be appreciated!
Other than that every dish was out of this world in terms of the textures, flavours and wonderful presentation. Just looking at the food made me salivate. One final thing I will say is that the Korean Fried Chicken shouldn't be called that. Traditional Korean Fried Chicken comes in two variants, Soy or Chilli, and the batter on the outside is a hard crispy batter shell that is fried twice. While absolutely delicious, this dish wasn't Korean Fried Chicken and shouldn't be called as such. Anyways, just an observation for the management but don't worry I won't be downgrading my rating as everything was just so tasty and delicious that it would be silly to give anything but 5 stars.
Ended with the custard buns desserts which were miles better than anything I'd had in the past, lovely custard filling without the 'eggy' flavour or aroma and a perfectly cooked black chewy bun surrounding it - delightful.
If you're about in Ulverston and looking for something a bit different, then I'd highly recommend a visit!
Beautiful, 7 plates of perfection 👌including the best belly pork ever 😍 3 drinks, lovely service, £78 worth every penny. 💯be back again
