Stayed here for two nights in March. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff who were all efficient, friendly and warm. The food was amazing quality and they have a great selection of good wines and real ales. Our room was perfectly adequate for our needs and was clean and tidy. Breakfast was great too with fresh bread and locally sourced produce.
The owners Trudi and Paul run a very efficient pub/and hotel and I have no hesitation in recommending the Stan Laurel inn.
Home cooked and freshly made food served in great sized portions by friendly and welcoming staff. I can highly recommend. It’s dog friendly and has a good hand pulled beers range and a wood burning stove, or two! I will return when in the area again.
A friend kindly took me out for lunch at this pub that she highly recommended. I'm not usually a pub person, but this one surprised me with its safe, laid back, homely style. The food was superb with a good range of classics, plus a bit more excitement. I had the South African bobotie, which I hadn't eaten since I lived there 38 years ago. It tasted exactly as I remembered it, and the owner told me they had learnt the recipe from SA staff with whom they still keep in touch, which showed a really nice employment style too. Will definitely be back soon.
