Baldersons operate a row of shops on Thorton le dale including a bakery, coffee shop, gift shop and ice cream parlour. The business has been here years and I always stop off while visiting Yorkshire.
My wife and I stopped off for a drink and sat in the patio area at the rear of the shop. You now have to wait to be seated which is fine and as we had two dogs with us we had to sit outside anyway. The outdoor decking is a lovely quiet area which is also sheltered in case it rains. Outside next to the seating area are a few bits for sale such as wood carvings which are very nice.
There is no table service so you must go up and order your drinks etc and take it back to your table. On this visit my wife had a latte and I had a tea which were both fine. We also got a couple of cakes to take away which we ate later that day and were extremely tasty. The rocky road was a little hard, but still good and we were given a large slice of it.
Only thing I disliked on my visit was the exit is no longer the way you enter the cafe. Customers without dogs can go through the gift shop which is fine, however we had dogs and so had to exit through a back gate. On our visit it started raining just as we were leaving and so had a bit of a walk to get back to our car. I really think Baldersons need to rethink this policy they have put in place.
Went in for a full English breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Service was excellent and friendly. Clean and tidy with loads of seating. Will come here again when in the area.
Very nice scones. Plenty of seating but not very wheelchair friendly.
And the exit is through a gift shop which is unusual.
