Doing a walk of Slad Valley last weekend and felt it required a visit to the Woolpack. It is a wonderful proper old pub with small, busy sections, including a dining area at either end. We sat with the locals and drank cider (Dunkerton's - still and delicious), revelling in the history of the place, loving the Laurie Lee connection and generally getting 'Sladdered'. We loved it so much, we booked a table for dinner, which was delicious. The house wines were the best I've ever had. There is a real pride in the place: a great chef has been brought in and great wines have been sourced but it is not at the expense of the inherent character of the place which is why so many visit after all.
Lovely dog friendly pub. Fabulous food. Whilst a little more expensive than your everyday pub grub, food was delicious so easily justified. Will be back!
Absolute gem of a pub with top class beer. Visited on a Camra trip with Redditch & Bromsgrove branch. We will return.
