Discovered this wonderful cafe while driving back from the coast. The apple pie and berry crumble were absolutely fantastic. The Buck is like an idyllic dream in the Scottish countryside.
Lovely homemade cakes and superb coffee. Outdoor tables and seating for when the weather's good. (It's lovely inside when the weather's not so kind.) Perfect location in the main village street. Ideal for cyclists passing through.
Since the relatively new Dutch owner took over The Buck, I have visited a few times now while either cycling or motorcycling and on every occasion, it has been a relaxed and pleasurable experience.
The Dutch Apple Pie is (perhaps understandably?) very good and the quality of the coffee is outstanding, in my opinion!
The warm and friendly atmosphere of the cafe, created by its owner’s pleasant manner, combined with comfortable and homely surroundings, make this my favourite coffee and cake venue.
Being located in the lovely village of Straiton and handy for tourist locations in South Ayrshire/Galloway and the cycling roads of the “Ayrshire Alps” is an added bonus.
A must visit location if in the vicinity!
