Refreshing; Having experienced so many traditional pubs of late Rockin Robin Smokery breathes life into the pub food format. It goes in a bold direction, which arguably is against the trending concept of “eat more veggies”. It’s “eat more meat” is ballsey and I applaud it.
What is also ballsey is the interior, it shouts “I’m hip and craft-y”. Rockin Robin Smokery has an excellent selection of craft beers on tap.
The owner is smiley, caring and considerate, top bloke.
The food is special too, American inspired Smokery meat selections served with chips, beans, slaw. The offerings feel contradictory to the pubs trendy image. Who cares when for £22 you can have a HUGE (note the use of capitalisation) selection of meats when opting for the one person (more like one family) meat platter. Of the meats in the platter the pork ribs and pulled pork have a cavernous depth of flavour. Really enjoyable.
I can’t help but recommend this fine, huge eat, meat feast establishment. A great alternative to the traditional pub grub offerings.
Popped in for a quick lunch. Surprisingly quiet on a Friday lunchtime, but the food was fantastic, as was the service. Will definitely find our way back there soon.
Standard burger. Very pleasant. The Guinness was also nice. Will be back!
