A proper pub. We stopped by for a mid-afternoon pint whilst trying to walk off some of our excessive lunch at The Suffield. A smattering of locals were propping up the bar on a Monday, the fire was blazing, it was comfortable and there was a good range of ale on handpull. All very satisfying.
This is a hidden gem tucked away in a little village not far from the coast. It's a homely pub with real character and very welcoming. We booked ahead and glad we did as it was busy. The menu is wide and varied but not too much so and contains lots of good home cooked type food. It was delicious, decent sized portions but not enormous 👍. The service was very friendly as were the staff. Check it out, you'll not be disappointed.
First time at the Vernon Arms, we had a warm friendly smile from members of the staff, menu had very good selection to choose from, we were a party of 4, the Black & Tan beef Guinness ale pie was excellent, the pie was full of beef with a thin crusty pastry topping, you could have vegetables or chips with minted mushy peas, we all had a very enjoyable meal and will definitely return.
Would highly recommend.
